About Me

Bidhan Rebeiro (Bengali: বিধান রিবেরু; born 1981) is a Bangladeshi writer. His full name is Bidhan Charles Kollins Rebeiro. A number of poems, stories and essays of Bidhan has been published in national dailies, online portals and journals. He has penned many books too. 

Though Bidhan mainly writes essays on films, he also writes articles and columns on politics and literature. His debut poetry collection ‘Prothom’(First) was published in 2003. ‘Chalocchitra Path Sohayika’ (A guide to read films, 2011) was his first book of prose on cinema. 

Bidhan is the first essay-writer in Bangladesh who tried to incorporate psychoanalysis and philosophy with film discussion.

Besides writing, Bidhan Rebeiro has also made several documentary films and television programs.

Early life
Bidhan Rebeiro was born at Holy Family Hospital in Dhaka to Bijoy Vincent Rebeiro and Stella Gomez. Both of his parents are teachers.
During his childhood, Bidhan lived in Rajabajar area of Dhakas Farmgate, later his family moved to their Tejgaon residence in 1988.

Personal life
Bidhan Rebeiro married Ayesha Akter in 2011. They have a son, Adwitiyo (born in 2016).

Education
Bidhan Rebeiro started his academic life at a nursery school in Dhaka. Later he studied in Bottomley School. He passed the secondary education examination from Government Science College in 1998 and HSC examination from Notre Dame College in 2000. He received his graduate degree on computer science from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He then enrolled to Stamford University for his post-graduation on film and media, and completed it later in 2017. Mean while, Rebeiro received NOMA scholarship from Norway government and earned his post-graduate degree in Mass Commination and Journalist from University of Dhaka under Oslo University.

Career
Bidhan Rebeiro never went for any regular job. He worked contractually with RTV, Baishakhi Television, ATN News, and NTV Online. In these electronic and online media agencies, Rebeiro worked as Newsroom Editor, Senior Newsroom Editor, International Desk In-charge, Joint News Editor, and Feature Editor respectively.
He also worked in the Bengali newspaper Daily Janakantha when he was a student. His professional life begins in 2005.

Now he is teaching in the Journalism and Media Studies Department of Jahangirnagar University as an adjunct faculty. And he is now the cheif executive of the online portal Songbad Prokash.
